Mother and child found dead, husband tagged in Davao Occidental killing

Authorities discovered the decomposing bodies of a 17-year-old mother and her 2-year-old child in Barangay Talogoy, Malita Davao Occidental, according to a police report released by the Malita Police Station.

Police said a foul odor led to the discovery of the bodies, which were already in a state of decomposition. Both victims reportedly sustained multiple hack wounds to the head and neck, resulting in their deaths.

Investigators identified the suspect as the father, known by the alias “Paul,” who allegedly used a bladed weapon in the killings. The murder weapon was recovered during the investigation.

Authorities believe the victims had been dead for at least three days before their bodies were found.

According to police, the couple had an argument on April 15, 2025, stemming from relationship issues. The dispute is believed to have escalated due to jealousy, eventually leading to the fatal attack.

Following the gruesome discovery, police immediately launched a hot pursuit operation that resulted in the suspect’s arrest. He is now detained and awaiting further legal proceedings.
