A mother and her adult daughter were found dead inside their home in Purok 3, Barangay San Jose, Malilipot town in Albay, authorities said.
The victims, aged 50 and 22, were discovered lying on the floor, lifeless and soaked in blood, with multiple stab wounds on different parts of their bodies, according to initial reports.
A relative of the victims, identified only by the alias “Lily,” said she was the one who came upon the bodies inside the house. She told authorities the two appeared to have been attacked violently, based on the number of stab wounds visible when they were found.
Family members were left devastated after learning that the prime suspect is also a member of their family. Police said the suspect is the son of the older victim and the brother of the younger victim.
Authorities said they are still determining the motive behind the killing and have not ruled out any angle in the investigation. As of reporting time, investigators said there is no confirmed reason for the attack.
After the incident, the suspect allegedly fled the area using a motorcycle and was last seen heading toward Sogod, Bacacay, Albay, based on information gathered by police.
According to information obtained by Brigada, the suspect reportedly has a mental condition and had previously undergone treatment. He was reportedly brought several times to Cadlan in Camarines Sur for medical attention, though authorities said this information is still being verified.
Police have launched a hot pursuit operation to locate and arrest the suspect. They urged the public to remain calm and to immediately report any information that could help in the ongoing manhunt.
The investigation remains ongoing.
