A 51-year-old woman was arrested after authorities allegedly discovered a packet of suspected shabu concealed inside her bra while she was visiting her son at a rehabilitation facility in Barangay Kalunasan, Cebu City.
The incident occurred shortly after 3 p.m. on June 8 at Operation Second Chance, a rehabilitation center where her 16-year-old son is currently undergoing treatment.
Authorities said the suspected illegal drug was found during a routine inspection conducted on visitors entering the facility. According to investigators, the packet was concealed on the left side of the woman’s bra.
In an interview with Brigada News FM Cebu, the suspect, identified only by the alias “Minda,” denied that the suspected shabu was intended for her son.
She claimed that the substance was allegedly for her personal use and said she used it to gain additional energy for work and laundry-related tasks.
Authorities noted that her son had been admitted to the rehabilitation facility due to involvement in illegal drugs and was reportedly nearing completion of the program.
Further investigation revealed that the suspect had previously been imprisoned in 2004 for a case related to illegal drugs.
Following her arrest, the woman was taken into custody and is currently being held at the Guadalupe Police Station.
She is facing charges for alleged violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Authorities have not released additional details regarding the weight or estimated value of the suspected illegal substance.
The investigation remains ongoing as law enforcement officers continue to process the case and prepare the necessary charges against the suspect.
