MMDA goes ‘back to the drawing board’ after PH tagged as having the worst traffic in Asia

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) General Manager Nicolas Torre III has assured the public that measures are being put in place to address the traffic problem in Metro Manila.

This follows a report naming the Philippines as the most congested country in Asia for 2025.

Based on the 2025 TomTom Traffic Index, the Philippines was ranked as the most congested country in Asia, recording a congestion level of 45 percent.

Meanwhile, Manila ranked 40th among the most congested cities worldwide, with an average congestion level of 57 percent. Davao City, was identified as the most congested city in the Philippines.

According to Torre, in light of these data, the agency is now “back to the drawing board.”

He said the MMDA will discuss possible solutions to Metro Manila’s traffic congestion with Project NOAH and the National Center for Transportation Studies.
