The Eastern Mindanao Command (EastMinCom) confirmed that a Super Huey helicopter crashed on Monday, November 4, in Loreto, Agusan del Sur, while en route to Butuan City.
According to EastMinCom, the aircraft was deployed for Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response (HADR) operations under Tactical Operations Group (TOG) 10. The mission supported ongoing relief efforts for communities affected by Tropical Storm “Tino.”
The command said rescue and recovery operations were immediately launched in coordination with local emergency teams. As of this writing, EastMinCom has not yet released details on the number of casualties or the identities of those on board.
Several posts have appeared on social media showing photos that allegedly depict the victims’ bodies at the crash site. Authorities have not verified the authenticity of the images, and EastMinCom has yet to issue a statement regarding the online circulation.
In an official statement, EastMinCom appealed for public understanding, prayers, and cooperation as search and recovery operations continue. Officials said verified updates will be released once available.
The Super Huey is a commonly used Philippine Air Force aircraft for transport, disaster response, and supply missions, especially in remote or weather-affected areas.
