The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) confirmed that the sculpture of Dr. Jose Rizal located at Place Jose Rizal in Paris has gone missing.
According to the DFA, the bust appears to have been removed overnight between October 25 and October 26.
The incident has already been reported to local authorities in Paris.
The Philippine Embassy is also closely coordinating with officials to monitor the progress of the investigation.
In a statement, the DFA noted that while the motive for the removal remains unclear, public monuments often fall victim to vandalism, damage, or theft.
The missing sculpture served as a landmark for Filipinos in Paris and stood as a symbol of the strong friendship between the Philippines and France.
