Romualdez held responsible for Zaldy Co’s appointment to appropriations panel

Ombudsman Boying Remulla believes that former House Speaker and Leyte Representative Martin Romualdez is responsible for the appointment of resigned Ako Bicol party-list Representative Zaldy Co as chair of the House appropriations committee.

This comes amid corruption allegations against Co linked to the flood control scandal.

According to Remulla, as leader of the House, Romualdez was responsible for placing Co in the position.

He noted that while Co was technically elected on the House floor, everyone knows it was a “speaker’s choice.”

Because of this, Remulla stressed that Romualdez should be held accountable.

The Ombudsman added that Romualdez may face a complaint for gross inexcusable negligence.
