Melania Trump, Donald Trump divorce? Biographer claims First Couple are ‘separated’ and barely see each other

A bombshell allegation from a longtime Trump biographer has reignited questions about Donald and Melania Trump’s private life, claiming the former first couple are “separated” and have not lived together in any traditional sense since the start of Trump’s second term.

Michael Wolff, who has authored several controversial books about the former president, made the explosive claim during a recent podcast appearance, saying Donald and Melania no longer share a marriage “as we define marriage.”

Melania reportedly spends little time in Washington

According to Wolff, the former First Lady has spent fewer than 14 days at the White House since Donald Trump returned to office in January. Sources close to the family suggested even that estimate may be “generous.” Melania has reportedly opted to stay at Trump properties in New York and Palm Beach, largely avoiding Washington and official engagements.

Wolff said the couple is living separate lives and emphasized that this dynamic has become a permanent arrangement, not a temporary adjustment. He suggested Melania’s infrequent appearances reflect more than personal preference, pointing instead to a deliberate distancing.

Despite public appearances together, such as the funeral of the late Pope Francis and the White House Easter Egg Roll, the couple’s movements after official events have raised questions. After the Pope’s funeral in Rome, for instance, the two returned to the U.S. on Melania’s birthday but departed separately — she by car, Trump via Marine One.

White House lashes out over separation claims

White House communications director Steven Cheung issued a fiery response, dismissing Wolff’s remarks entirely. He described the biographer as a “blithering idiot” and an “imbecile of the highest order,” accusing him of manufacturing lies for personal gain. Cheung said Wolff’s statements were the result of “Trump Derangement Syndrome.”

Still, those within the Trump orbit have continued to question Melania’s prolonged absences. Reports suggest Melania has grown increasingly anxious after two alleged assassination attempts against her husband last year. Sources familiar with her mindset say she has become “deeply spooked” and focused on protecting her family’s safety, particularly that of 19-year-old Barron Trump.

In a Fox & Friends interview ahead of Trump’s second inauguration, Melania hinted at her intentions. She said she would be in Washington when necessary, but would also divide her time between Palm Beach and New York. She listed her top priorities as being a mother, a first lady, and a wife — though critics have noted the order may speak volumes.

Despite claims of emotional distance, longtime associate Paolo Zampolli insisted Melania still embraces her role. Zampolli, a former modeling agent and current U.S. special representative, said Melania “loves the White House” and “loves the role of serving as our first lady.”

But those watching closely believe the relationship between Donald and Melania may be far more distant than the public realizes — and the silence from the couple only adds to the growing speculation.
