Marcos announces wage increase in Regions 10 and 13

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced that new minimum wage increases in Region 10 and Region 13 have taken effect starting today.

The announcement was made during his speech at the Labor Day celebration held in General Santos City.

According to the President, the daily minimum wage in the two regions has been adjusted to ₱500 and ₱475. The increase forms part of the government’s continuing review and adjustment of workers’ wages across the country.

Marcos said the wage increases were implemented through the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Boards. He explained that the boards are responsible for ensuring that wage adjustments respond to the specific economic conditions and needs of each region.

The President also noted that from June 2023 to April 2026, a total of 89 wage orders have been implemented in various parts of the Philippines. These orders, he said, reflect ongoing efforts to address wage concerns and improve compensation levels for workers nationwide.

During his speech, Marcos emphasized that the government continues to take steps to improve the welfare of workers. Among these efforts is the regular review of minimum wage rates in different regions.

The announcement came as part of the government’s Labor Day activities, which traditionally highlight labor policies and initiatives affecting Filipino workers.

Officials said the wage increases are now effective, marking the latest adjustment under the government’s policy of periodic wage review through regional wage boards.
