A 52-year-old man was killed in Antique after a knife struggle with his former live-in partner ended in his fatal stabbing early Friday.
The incident occurred in Barangay Igbalangao, Bugasong, on September 5. Police identified the victim as Dan, a fish vendor. The suspect, known only by the alias “Nessa,” is 38 years old.
According to the initial investigation of the Bugasong Municipal Police, Dan went to Nessa’s house to talk, but the meeting quickly escalated into a heated argument.
During the confrontation, Dan allegedly threatened to kill Nessa. At some point, Nessa managed to grab hold of the knife, which was later recovered at the scene. Police said it measured 13 inches.
Dan was stabbed in the neck during the struggle, a wound that proved fatal. He died before medical help could be administered.
After the incident, Nessa voluntarily surrendered to authorities. Police said she could face a homicide charge while the investigation continues.
Investigators noted that Dan and Nessa had already separated before the fatal encounter. Domestic abuse was reportedly one of the reasons for their past separation, according to initial police findings.
