Brothers killed in backhoe accident in Aklan

Two brothers were killed in a workplace accident in Banga, Aklan, after being struck by a backhoe bucket on Thursday afternoon.

The incident happened in Barangay Pagsanghan around 5 p.m. on September 4. Police identified the victims as Jonel and Jomer Tamayo, both residents of Balete, Aklan.

Based on the initial investigation, the brothers were helping repair a truck transmission while a backhoe was being used as a lifting tool. The 44-year-old operator said he was maneuvering the equipment when its hydraulic hose suddenly burst, causing the bucket to fall on the victims.
