LTO summons vlogger, driver after viral Cagayan gas station incident

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has issued a Show Cause Order (SCO) against a vlogger, the driver, and the registered owner of a vehicle involved in a viral incident in Cagayan.

The action followed an investigation conducted by the LTO Intelligence and Investigation Division regarding a video circulating on social media. The footage showed a Toyota Land Cruiser traveling along Maharlika Highway in Allacapan, Cagayan while being chased by a gasoline station attendant.

Authorities said the individual who recorded the video was inside the vehicle at the time of the incident and allegedly ordered or allowed the driver to continue driving while the attendant pursued the vehicle under intense heat.

Meanwhile, the driver was ordered to surrender his license, which has been placed under a 90-day preventive suspension. The vehicle involved has also been placed under alarm status.

LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Markus V. Lacanilao condemned the incident, stressing that such actions have no place on public roads, even if done for content creation.

He also reminded the public that motor vehicles must not be used in irresponsible, abusive, or exploitative acts, regardless of whether the intent is entertainment or social media content.
