Lineman dies after electrocution while installing internet line in Cebu

A 28-year-old lineman died after being electrocuted while installing an internet line in Barangay Tomonoy, Moalboal, Cebu on April 27, 2026, authorities said.

The victim was identified as Junrey Labang, a resident of Barili, Cebu.

According to his coworker, a loud explosion was heard moments before the victim was seen hanging from a ladder during the installation work. The incident happened while Labang was working on the internet line in the area.

He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital following the incident. However, attending medical personnel declared him dead on arrival.

Authorities noted that the victim sustained burn injuries on his body, which were consistent with electrocution.

Investigators are continuing to gather details to determine how the incident occurred and whether safety measures were properly observed at the time of the installation.
