The Palace appears to be “desperate” to win public support.
This was the remark of Akbayan Partylist Representative Perci Cendaña following President Bongbong Marcos’ directive to prioritize several measures, including the Anti-Political Dynasty Bill.
In an interview with Brigada News FM Manila, Cendaña—one of the bill’s authors—said Malacañang may have released its priority legislative list in an effort to win over the public.
He noted that this move contradicts the Palace’s earlier stance that it was not “keen” on certifying certain measures as urgent.
According to the lawmaker, the strong public outrage on the issue likely pushed the administration to act.
Cendaña expressed hope that the announcement will not remain mere rhetoric.
He stressed that what the country needs is not promises, but swift action.
He added that sincerity will only be shown if the Palace certifies the priority bills as urgent.
Cendaña urged the public to continue pressing Congress to act on these measures, start committee hearings, and pass the bills as soon as possible
