Lacson hopes to become Marcoleta’s “BFF” again

Senate President Pro Tempore Ping Lacson said he still hopes to rebuild his friendship with Sen. Rodante Marcoleta despite recent public remarks exchanged between them.

Lacson admitted that when Marcoleta was still working in media and had not yet entered politics, he felt that the latter had some level of admiration for him.

However, Lacson denied Marcoleta’s statement suggesting that he had changed over the years. According to Lacson, he remains the same person he was during his time as chief of the Philippine National Police and continues to carry the same character now as a senator.

The senator also suggested that Marcoleta may have been the one who changed, saying that the latter’s statements often no longer make sense.

Lacson believes the tension between them may have started when he replaced Marcoleta as chairman of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee.

Despite their differences, Lacson said he still hopes that in the future they can return to being close friends again and become true “best friends forever.”

The exchange comes amid continuing political discussions involving personalities inside the Senate, where disagreements among lawmakers have recently drawn public attention.

Neither Lacson nor Marcoleta provided additional details regarding the status of their relationship beyond the statements mentioned.
