R&B singer Kris Lawrence and actress Katrina Halili are calling on the public to stop bashing Mary Joyce Calzado Astejada, Lawrence’s former partner and the mother of his daughter, Lyric.
In a Facebook post, Kris appealed to his supporters to choose peace, respect, and understanding, stressing that Mary Joyce will always be the mother of his child.
The singer also clarified that supporting his relationship with Katrina should never be an excuse to attack or belittle other people.
Katrina, meanwhile, made a similar appeal, particularly to fellow women and mothers, urging them to be more compassionate toward Mary Joyce.
The actress reminded netizens that they may not know what someone is going through behind the scenes, while also emphasizing the importance of being mindful of words shared online—especially when discussing mental health.
The couple’s statements came after Mary Joyce received negative comments from some netizens following her post of throwback photos with Lyric.
One netizen even asked whether she still had feelings for Kris.
Mary Joyce responded briefly but positively, saying: “Nope, but always proud.”
