Negros’ growing dairy industry is set for another boost as a 50-hectare government-backed stock farm and feed center is planned in Kabankalan City, with an annual milk production target of 640,000 liters.
The National Dairy Authority (NDA) and Central Philippines State University (CPSU) will develop the facility on CPSU land in Barangay Camingawan, which the university will place under NDA use for 25 years, renewable for another 25 years.
The complex will accommodate up to 150 dairy cows and is projected to produce about 75 heifers per cycle, while serving as a breeding, rehabilitation, training and research center for farmers and students.
NDA Administrator Marcus Antonius T. Andaya said the partnership is part of the agency’s goal of establishing stock farms across the country and bringing dairy technology and production closer to local communities.
The project comes as milk production in the Negros Island Region rose to 1.12 million liters in the first half of 2026, up 8.11 percent from the same period last year and accounting for 4.43 percent of national output.*
