The House Committee on Justice is expected to conclude its hearings on the impeachment complaints filed against Vice President Sara Duterte by April 29.
Lanao del Sur Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong said the committee has scheduled one more hearing on April 22 before wrapping up the proceedings at the committee level.
At present, the panel is determining whether there is probable cause on the allegations filed against the vice president. These include claims of alleged misuse of confidential funds, unexplained wealth, reported threats against high-ranking officials, and issues related to her Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN).
Once the hearings are completed, the committee may submit its report to the plenary when the House of Representatives resumes session on May 4.
If approved by the plenary, the impeachment process will move to the Senate for trial proceedings.
The Senate impeachment trial will determine whether the vice president will be removed from office based on the findings and evidence presented during the process.
Lawmakers are currently reviewing documents and testimonies related to the allegations as part of the ongoing determination of probable cause.
The impeachment proceedings remain under review at the committee level, with lawmakers set to finalize their findings before forwarding the report to the plenary for further action.
