Henry Aguda has resigned as secretary of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla announced on Saturday, October 10.
The development comes days after Aguda addressed speculation about his possible resignation, saying he remained committed to his work as DICT secretary without directly confirming or denying reports about his departure.
Aguda took the helm of the DICT in March 2025, focusing on accelerating the delivery of digital government services and expanding electronic transactions across government agencies.
His resignation also comes against the backdrop of controversies surrounding recent DICT decisions, including the temporary blocking of messaging platform Discord, a move the department later reversed.
Remulla’s announcement, however, did not clarify whether the controversies were connected to Aguda’s decision to step down. No official reason for the resignation was immediately provided.*
