Gilas Pilipinas 3×3 Men completed a clean sweep of Group A after outlasting Kazakhstan, 21-15, to secure their place in the quarterfinal round of the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games.
The Filipinos came into the crucial matchup unbeaten after opening their campaign with victories over Mongolia, 19-12, and Sri Lanka, 21-12.
Nic Cabañero continued to lead the Philippine charge, while Koji Buenaflor and Luis Pablo provided timely scoring as Gilas relied on its defensive pressure to control the pace of the tournament.
The young Philippine squad, composed of Cabañero, Buenaflor, Pablo, and Doy Dungo, had only about a month of preparation together before the Asian Games but quickly developed chemistry through their familiarity with UAAP and MPBL competition.
The victory sends Gilas directly into the Last Eight, avoiding the play-in round.
The quarterfinals are scheduled for September 24, with the semifinals and gold-medal game set for September 25.
