Gensan suspends all classes on Nov. 14 as rains continue

The General Santos City government suspends all classes on Friday, November 14, 2025, as continuous rains threaten several communities across the city.

The decision aims to protect students, teachers, and personnel in both public and private schools from possible flooding and weather-related hazards.

Authorities emphasize that the order covers all levels as precautionary monitoring continues throughout the affected areas.

CDRRMO earlier recommended the suspension after noting hours of persistent rainfall that increased surface runoff and caused scattered flooding in multiple barangays.

Disaster teams previously conducted field assessments to check clogged drainage systems, rising water levels, and possible landslide-prone zones within the city.

Local officials also relied on earlier briefings from monitoring units that observed unstable weather movement throughout the week.

City authorities will continue issuing updates through the official Facebook pages of LGU Gensan: Tatak Heneral and CDRRMO Gensan.

Response teams will prepare additional advisories as weather conditions evolve and risks possibly increase in low-lying or flood-prone areas across the city.

Officials remind residents to remain cautious and prioritize safety while the city expects extended monitoring for potential further impacts.
