Former engineer Brice Hernandez returns to Senate detention

Former assistant district engineer Brice Hernandez has returned to the Senate Detention Facility following a Pasay Regional Trial Court ruling on a Writ of Amparo filed by his camp.

Hernandez arrived at the Senate facility around 9 a.m. on Monday, where he immediately underwent a medical examination as part of standard procedure.

The Pasay RTC Branch 112 issued the ruling after hearing Hernandez’s petition. In his letter of request, Hernandez appealed to Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto, asking to be transferred back to the Senate facility. He had previously been moved to Pasay City Jail.

Before being placed at the Pasay jail, Hernandez had stayed at the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center inside Camp Crame.

Hernandez’s return to the Senate facility marks another turn in a case that has drawn public and political attention. The decision to grant his request underscores the continuing debate over detention practices for personalities facing Senate investigations.

For now, Hernandez remains under Senate custody while awaiting further proceedings.
