Firetruck collides with two motorcycles in Cebu City

Four people were injured after a firetruck collided with two motorcycles at an intersection in Barangay San Nicolas on Saturday afternoon, May 3.

The incident occurred at the corner of C. Padilla and T. Abella Streets while the firetruck, operated by the Sawang Calero Fire Substation, was reportedly responding to a fire emergency.

According to initial reports and CCTV footage from the area, the firetruck had its siren on as it approached the intersection. However, the two motorcycles involved reportedly continued moving through the crossing, resulting in a crash.

All four individuals—two riders and their respective back riders—were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. The extent of their injuries has not been disclosed.

Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances of the collision, including whether traffic rules were followed by both the emergency vehicle and the motorcycles. It remains unclear if any charges will be filed.

The Sawang Calero firetruck was reportedly on active duty at the time, responding to an ongoing fire alarm when the incident occurred.

Cebu City police and traffic enforcers have reminded the public to yield to emergency vehicles with active sirens to avoid similar accidents in the future.
