The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has confirmed that one Filipino in Bangladesh has been displaced due to the flooding caused by Cyclone Ditwah.
According to the DFA, the Filipina—originally from Negombo City, Sri Lanka—has already received medical attention and assistance from the Honorary Consulate General.
The agency further assured that through the Philippine Embassy in Bangladesh and the Honorary Consulate General in Sri Lanka, they continue to monitor the situation of Filipinos in the area following heavy rains and landslides triggered by the cyclone.
The DFA also encouraged other Filipinos in need of help to contact the Honorary Consulate General in Sri Lanka.
As of this year, 711 Filipinos have been recorded to be living in the affected area.
Meanwhile, the death toll from Cyclone Ditwah has risen to more than 200, with over 200 others reported missing.
