Father, son killed in Toledo City motorcycle crash

A father and his 10-year-old son were killed after the motorcycle they were riding collided with a truck Wednesday afternoon in Toledo City, Cebu police said.

The crash happened around 1 p.m. on Jan. 21, 2026, along Barangay Media Once. Authorities identified the victims as Rey, 40, and his son Emman, residents of the city.

According to an initial police investigation, the motorcycle attempted to overtake a truck moments before the collision occurred. The truck was driven by Ariel, 48, police said.

The impact caused fatal injuries to both the father and the child. They were rushed to a hospital but were declared dead on arrival.

Police said the truck driver is now in custody while investigators complete their inquiry into the incident. He may face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in double homicide, pending the outcome of the investigation.

Authorities have not released further details on road conditions, speed, or other factors surrounding the crash. The case remains under investigation.
