Former President Rodrigo Duterte and former Vice President Leni Robredo have secured decisive victories in their respective mayoral races, according to partial and unofficial results from the Commission on Elections.
In Davao City, Duterte received overwhelming support with over 650,000 votes, widely outpacing his opponent, Karlo Nograles, who garnered more than 80,000 votes. Despite facing detention orders from the International Criminal Court (ICC), Duterte’s influence in his hometown remains strong, as reflected in the landslide margin.
Meanwhile, in Naga City, Robredo made a commanding political return by winning the mayoral seat with more than 83,000 votes. Her closest rival, Toots de Quiros, trailed significantly with just 6,000 votes. Robredo expressed gratitude to her supporters, especially those from her local coalition, Ang Bagong Team Naga. She claimed the win with 91.6% of the total votes cast.
Both victories signal a significant return to local politics for the former national leaders, each still wielding strong grassroots influence in their home cities.
Robredo also celebrated the success of her allies Bam Aquino and Kiko Pangilinan, who reportedly secured spots in the top 12 Senate race contenders.
While the final official results are still pending, early data underscores the enduring popularity of both Duterte and Robredo in their strongholds.
