Executive Secretary Ralph Recto maintained that he is innocent amid allegations surrounding the supposed illegal ₱60-billion fund transfer to the National Treasury during his tenure as Secretary of the Department of Finance (DOF).
Recto said that, as a Supreme Court justice had stated, no criminal liability can be attributed to him as former finance secretary.
He said he performed his duties in good faith and in accordance with the mandate of Congress.
At the same time, Recto expressed confidence that the facts and the law are clear, and that the institutions reviewing the issue will act fairly.
Earlier, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro read Recto’s response to the plunder complaint.
In that statement, Recto said his camp has yet to receive a copy of the complaint.
