An electronic shop owner was shot and killed by an unidentified suspect late Monday morning in the Babak District of the Island Garden City of Samal, Davao del Norte. The incident occurred around 11:20 a.m. on December 1 in Zone 5, Sitio Kaimito, Barangay Miranda, according to police.
Authorities said the victim, known locally as “Kidok,” was attending to a customer inside his shop when the gunman approached and fired a single shot to his head. Community members estimated the victim to be between 30 and 40 years old, while a separate police report identified him as a 43-year-old male resident of the area. He died at the scene.
Police described the suspect as wearing a black sweatshirt and brown jogger pants. He was about five foot five and had a thin build. After the shooting, the suspect fled the area on a blue-and-black motorcycle parked near the highway.
Personnel from the Babak Police Sub-Station responded minutes after the attack. Investigators recovered a fired cartridge case believed to have been discharged from a 9mm firearm.
At about 2:05 p.m., forensic personnel arrived to process the scene. Evidence collected included blood swab samples, buccal swabs, hand paraffin casts, and post-mortem fingerprints. The area was cleared by 3:40 p.m., and the victim’s remains were transported to a nearby funeral home.
Police said the motive behind the shooting has yet to be identified. The suspect remains at large as investigators continue pursuing leads.
Authorities are urging anyone with relevant information to contact the Babak Police Sub-Station as the case remains under investigation.
