A tragic road crash claimed the life of a 62-year-old passenger in Toril, Davao City, after a tricycle collided with a stray dog.
The incident occurred along Purok 8 Bato Toril Road. According to the Toril Police, a Kawasaki tricycle driven by Crispin C. Liatan, 44, struck a stray dog crossing the road. The impact caused the tricycle to swerve into the opposite lane and crash into metal railings.
The passenger, identified as Antonio Angoy Belonia, died instantly after being thrown onto the road’s metal barriers. The driver, Liatan, sustained physical injuries but declined hospital treatment.
Police investigations revealed that the vehicle was traveling on a curved, uphill portion of the road when the crash occurred. Responders from 911 arrived at the scene to assist but reported that the driver refused medical attention.
The victim’s body was taken to a funeral home for proper handling, while the tricycle was impounded at the Toril Police Station.
