The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has relieved several of its regional directors and other officials from their posts following an ongoing investigation into allegedly anomalous flood control projects.
Among those removed from their positions are:
- Ronnel M. Tan, Regional Director, Region 1
- Jovel G. Mendoza, Regional Director, Region 4A
- Virgilio C. Eduarte, Regional Director, Region 5
- Danilo D. Villa, Regional Director, Region 7
Several assistant regional directors were also affected, including Neil C. Farala of Region 4B and Annie S. Dela Vega of Region 5. The Manila District also saw the removal of district engineers Ruel V. Umali and Manny B. Bulusan.
The DPWH emphasized that the investigation into the flood control projects is ongoing. Authorities assured the public that any official found to be involved in irregularities will be held accountable in accordance with government rules and regulations.
The department continues to monitor and assess all projects to ensure transparency and the proper use of public funds, especially in initiatives aimed at mitigating flooding risks across the country.
