France’s Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu has vowed to deploy more police officers to protests following last week’s unrest, which led to curfews and arrests.
Lecornu is set to meet with representatives of five labor unions to discuss measures to maintain public security while protecting the right to peaceful demonstrations.
The protests were driven by rising living costs and involved the Yellow Vest movement and high school students.
Authorities have also imposed partial curfews in Paris and other cities, along with bans on public gatherings in certain areas.
Nearly 150 people have been detained, while more than 800 have faced court proceedings in connection with the unrest.
In response to the widespread violence, French lawmakers have also agreed to launch an investigation into possible shortcomings in the government’s strategies and preparedness in handling the disturbances.
