The Department of Justice (DOJ) has called on Filipinos in the Schengen area to provide any information that could help authorities locate former Ako-Bicol Party-list Representative Zaldy Co.
The appeal came after Justice Secretary Fredderick Vida confirmed that the former lawmaker is no longer within the territory of the Czech Republic and may still be somewhere inside the Schengen zone, which includes several countries across Europe.
According to the DOJ, public cooperation is essential to speed up efforts to determine Co’s exact location and facilitate his immediate return to the Philippines.
Officials said that while the government already possesses some information regarding Co’s movements, wider coordination remains necessary to track him. The agency acknowledged that there is currently no international warrant of arrest or Interpol red notice issued against the former lawmaker.
Authorities also disclosed that during a meeting with Czech authorities, it was confirmed that Co was still present in the country when he arrived on Friday.
The DOJ emphasized that communication with foreign governments and international agencies is ongoing as part of efforts to locate Co and ensure that he answers the cases filed against him.
Officials did not disclose further details regarding Co’s possible whereabouts but maintained that monitoring efforts continue.
The government reiterated the importance of timely information sharing from members of the public, particularly Filipinos residing or traveling within Schengen countries, as authorities work to strengthen international coordination in the search for the former lawmaker.
