DOH debunks viral hoax on HIV-contaminated needles in blood tests

The Department of Health (DOH) has debunked a viral social media post claiming that needles used in home blood tests are contaminated with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).

The post alleges that individuals posing as members of a so-called “Faculty of Medicine” visit homes offering free blood sugar tests. It further claims that the needles used during these tests are intentionally tainted with HIV, sparking fear and confusion among the public.

In an official statement, the DOH warned the public against believing and sharing unverified information. The agency reiterated that there is no truth to the claims and that such posts are intended to spread unnecessary panic.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) also addressed the issue, categorically denying the allegations.

Health officials urge the public to verify information from trusted sources and report suspicious activities directly to authorities.
