The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) is closely monitoring the situation in Venezuela following two strong earthquakes that struck the northern part of the country.
In a statement, the DFA said that the Philippine Embassy in Bogota has been coordinating with Filipinos in the affected areas following the incident.
The embassy is also communicating with Filipinos residing in Caracas, the capital of Venezuela, as well as in the city of Barinas to check on their condition and safety.
As of now, the DFA said it has not received any reports of injuries or casualties among Filipinos in the area.
“As of this writing, no reports of injuries or casualties have been received from Filipino nationals in Venezuela,” the DFA said.
The agency added that Filipinos have been advised to stay in safe locations and closely monitor local news reports and government advisories for updates regarding the earthquakes.
The DFA assured the public that it will continue to closely monitor the situation and provide assistance to Filipinos as needed.
