The death toll from Typhoon Maymay and the southwest monsoon, locally known as Habagat, has risen to six, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP).
The PNP reported that two people died in a rockfall or landslide in Rodriguez, Rizal.
One fatality each was also reported in Luna, La Union, and Alaminos, Pangasinan, both involving drowning incidents.
The number increased after two more people were killed in a landslide in Barangay Shilan, La Trinidad, Benguet, on the morning of Aug. 6.
Authorities said one other person was injured in the Benguet landslide and was taken to Benguet General Hospital for treatment.
Benguet Provincial Director Col. Dionisio Bonoy said the landslide struck a bulaluhan, or eatery, at about 9 a.m.
Initial findings indicated that the soil had become saturated due to continuous rainfall, triggering the collapse.
Meanwhile, clearing operations continue on several roads in the Cordillera region and Ilocos Sur following landslides caused by persistent heavy rains associated with Typhoon Maymay and the southwest monsoon.
The La Trinidad Municipal Police Station reported that the Longlong-Balite-Tamawan Road and the Ambiong-Lubas Road remain closed to motorists because of landslide debris and the risk of additional slope failures.
In Mountain Province, authorities said all types of vehicles could not pass through a section of Sitio Acadchang in Barangay Betwagan, Sadanga because of continuing rockfalls.
The Suyo Municipal Police Station in Ilocos Sur also reported that the Suyo-Sigay Road in Sitio Ida, Barangay Patoc-ao remains impassable due to a landslide.
Authorities advised motorists to avoid affected roads and use alternate routes while clearing operations and monitoring continue.
