A banana harvester in Davao de Oro was arrested after police recovered suspected shabu worth ₱340,000 during a search operation early Tuesday morning.
Authorities said the Special Operations Unit of Police Regional Office XI executed a court-issued search warrant at the home of the suspect, identified as Roy Bonajos, in Barangay Concepcion, Maco. The operation took place around 6 a.m. on December 2.
According to police, officers recovered several sachets of what was believed to be shabu from Bonajos during the implementation of the warrant. The seized items ranged from large to small sachets with a combined estimated weight of 50 grams. The value of the suspected drugs was placed at ₱340,000.
Police said the standard procedure of tagging and marking the recovered evidence was carried out at the scene. The process was conducted in the presence of required witnesses, including a barangay official and a member of the media. Authorities noted that all items recovered during the operation were documented for filing of charges.
Bonajos was taken into custody following the search. He is now facing complaints for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Police did not provide additional details regarding the investigation or whether the suspect had prior records.
The operation in Barangay Concepcion was part of ongoing law enforcement actions aimed at addressing illegal drug activity in the region. PRO XI has not released any further statements about possible follow-up operations related to the case.
The seized evidence has been forwarded to the proper authorities for examination. Police said updates will be released as the case progresses.
