One dead as delivery van crashes into three vehicles in Quezon

One person died after a delivery van struck two tricycles and a motorcycle along Quirino Highway in Barangay Sta. Cecilia, Tagkawayan, Quezon, early Sunday morning.

Police said the incident happened around 6:30 a.m. on November 30. The two tricycles were traveling in the northbound lane when the van, which was moving from the southbound side, suddenly crossed over to the opposite direction. Authorities said the van was loaded with about 12 tons of goods.

The impact caused both tricycles to be hit. After the initial collision, police said the van continued moving for around 400 meters before hitting a motorcycle. Responders brought the injured to Maria L. Eleazar General Hospital. In a follow-up report, authorities confirmed that one person died from the incident. Police did not release details regarding the identity or condition of the other victims.

Investigators also noted that the same delivery van had figured in another crash days earlier. According to the report, the van allegedly hit a truck in Atimonan, Quezon, on November 28. No additional information was provided regarding that earlier collision.

Authorities are continuing the investigation to determine the cause of Sunday’s crash in Tagkawayan. Police have not issued statements about possible charges or whether the earlier incident may be connected to the latest collision.

Officials reminded motorists to exercise caution when passing along Quirino Highway as the investigation proceeds. Further updates are expected once authorities complete their assessment of the two linked incidents.
