Two high-value targets nabbed in ₱554K drug bust in Davao City

Two alleged high-value targets were arrested in a drug buy-bust operation in Davao City after authorities recovered marijuana and shabu with an estimated value of ₱554,600.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office 11 reported that the operation took place at Dakudao Compound along J.P. Laurel Avenue in Lanang around 2 p.m. on December 1. Agents identified the suspects as individuals known only by the aliases Ric, 44, and Jack, both residents of the same area.

According to the report, the two were apprehended immediately after completing a transaction involving illegal drugs. Officers recovered dried marijuana leaves, vape devices containing marijuana oil, and several packets of what was believed to be shabu. The total estimated value of the seized items reached more than half a million pesos, based on PDEA’s assessment.

Both suspects were taken into custody following the operation. They are now detained while facing complaints for violating Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. PDEA 11 said the case will proceed to inquest as the investigation continues.

The operation was part of ongoing efforts by authorities to target individuals considered high risk in the illegal drug trade. The agency has yet to release additional details, including whether the suspects were under surveillance before the buy-bust or if further operations are expected in relation to the arrests.

PDEA 11 stated that the confiscated evidence will undergo proper documentation and examination as required under law. The agency did not disclose information on possible links to larger drug groups, noting that the focus remains on the charges filed against the two suspects.

Authorities said updates would be issued as the case develops.
