Central Philippines State University (CPSU) has secured the 548th rank worldwide, placed 22nd in the country, and emerged as the top-performing university in Negros Island Region (NIR) in the 2025 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, the CPSU Public Information Office reported on Wednesday, December 10.
CPSU earned its spot after the 16th edition of the rankings assessed 1,745 institutions from 105 countries.
UI GreenMetric is an international ranking system that measures how universities perform in environmental sustainability, evaluating indicators such as energy use, climate action, waste management, water conservation, green transportation, and sustainability-centered education and research.
The university boosted its standing by introducing new eco-friendly innovations and improving long-running, community-based green initiatives.
CPSU’s International Affairs and Linkages Office said the results urge universities to take stronger, more coordinated action in addressing global environmental challenges.*
