Comelec insists 2028 national elections will push through

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) assured the public that the 2028 national elections will push through amid speculations that they may not take place.

According to Comelec Chairman George Erwin Garcia, the 2028 elections are “certain” and will happen “100 percent,” adding that the agency is fully prepared for the polls.

Garcia said the commission is already 50% to 60% prepared for the elections, especially as it continues to carry out its mandate under the 1987 Philippine Constitution, which requires presidential elections every six years.

The assurance came after Vice President Sara Duterte responded to questions regarding the upcoming elections.
