DMW chief to visit Kuwait amid Middle East tensions

Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac is set to travel to Kuwait to check on the condition of Filipinos affected by tensions in the Middle East.

During a press briefing, Cacdac assured the public that repatriation flights for overseas Filipinos will continue.

He also noted reports that more Filipinos in Kuwait are expressing their desire to return to the Philippines.

Amid the ongoing repatriation efforts, the DMW continues to coordinate with the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) and other government agencies.

The agency has already provided financial assistance to more than 17,500 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).

Of the total number, nearly 10,000 opted to return to the Philippines, while more than 7,600 chose to remain abroad.

Meanwhile, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is also extending support for the employment needs of overseas workers.
