A domestic dispute between live-in partners ended in a shooting incident in Barangay Polog, Consolacion, Cebu around 3 p.m. Friday, April 4.
Authorities identified the victim as 44-year-old Leslyn, who was shot by her live-in partner, 35-year-old Gaudioso. Both are residents of the area.
According to initial police investigation, the couple was arguing by the roadside when Gaudioso suddenly pulled out a firearm and shot Leslyn in the thigh. A bystander recorded the altercation on video, which showed the suspect fleeing the scene after the shooting.
Leslyn is currently recovering at a hospital.
Family members revealed that jealousy triggered the argument. In an interview with Brigada News FM Cebu, the victim’s grandfather shared that the two had been living together for about eight months.
He claimed Gaudioso had previously physically abused Leslyn but the couple had reconciled despite the history of violence. He also alleged that the suspect is addicted to illegal drugs and frequently displayed jealous behavior.
Authorities are continuing their investigation and search for the suspect, who remains at large.
