A caretaker died after two young men allegedly stabbed him at his residence in Sitio Upper Decala, Barangay Caruray, San Vicente, Palawan, on the evening of May 26.
Police identified the victim as Noe Berte, while authorities identified the suspects as Lorence Galato Villas and JR Castro Duras, both 19 years old.
Based on the police investigation, the victim and the suspects were drinking together before the incident when an argument reportedly broke out among them.
After the gathering ended, Berte returned to his house, but the two suspects allegedly followed him and later attacked him.
Investigators said the suspects repeatedly stabbed the victim, causing serious injuries to his chest and back.
According to one of the suspects, the victim had allegedly accused him of molesting the victim’s niece, which he cited as the motive behind the attack.
Despite his injuries, Berte reportedly managed to run from the scene in an attempt to seek help.
However, he later succumbed to the stab wounds he sustained during the incident.
Following the attack, both suspects voluntarily surrendered to barangay officials and cooperated with authorities.
