Woman rider suffers injuries after crashing due to stray dog crossing road in Aborlan

A woman rider sustained minor injuries after figuring in a road accident allegedly caused by a dog that suddenly crossed her path in Barangay Apurawan, Aborlan, Palawan, on the afternoon of May 28.

The rider suffered abrasions on her right knee and left arm after losing control of her motorcycle and falling onto the road along the stretch of Bubusawin.

According to Lech Seracarpio, one of the individuals who responded to the incident, the rider was on her way home when the accident occurred.

Initial information indicated that a dog unexpectedly crossed the roadway, leaving the rider with little time to react and avoid a collision.

The sudden appearance of the animal reportedly caused the rider to lose balance, resulting in the crash and the injuries she sustained.

Responders immediately assisted the victim following the incident and ensured that she received the necessary attention for her injuries.

Responders failed to locate the dog after arriving at the scene of the accident.

Residents reported that free-roaming dogs have already caused several accidents along the roadway, making this incident far from the first in the area.

The recurring incidents have raised concerns among motorists and community members regarding the safety risks posed by unattended animals.

Authorities urged pet owners to practice responsible pet ownership and keep their animals under proper supervision at all times.

They emphasized that preventing pets from wandering onto public roads can help reduce accidents and protect both motorists and animals from harm.

Officials also encouraged residents to stay alert while traveling, especially in areas where stray or free-roaming animals frequently cross roads.
