Cambodians hold peace protest amid Thailand–Cambodia border clash

Thousands of Cambodians gathered along the streets of Phnom Penh to call for peace.

This came after more than 10 days of clashes between Cambodia and Thailand along the border, which have already caused adverse effects on civilians and resulted in the deaths of military personnel.

Aside from calling for peace, the protesters also demanded respect for the ceasefire agreement.

The protest was organized by the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia (UYFC). According to Hun Many, chief of the UYFC and leader of the demonstration, they are already witnessing the consequences of war.

He said this is already the second border clash within seven months of unrest, and that Cambodians are well aware of the dangers brought about by the conflict.
