A passenger bus crashed into a center island in Barangay Domoit, Lucena City, early Tuesday, September 30, authorities reported.
Investigators said the bus was heading to Calabanga, Camarines Sur, when the driver swerved left to avoid a trailer truck traveling too close to its side. The driver failed to notice the center island and slammed into it, hitting three posts owned by the local government.
No passengers or bystanders were reported injured in the incident. The extent of damage to the bus has not yet been determined, according to officials.
The bus company assured authorities it would cover the repair costs for the damaged posts.
This was not the first time a vehicle has collided with the same center island. Officials noted that poor lighting in the area is among the factors being considered as a possible cause of repeated accidents.
