Authorities seize P18.2M marijuana, firearms in Sulu anti-drug raid

Authorities seized more than P18.2 million worth of marijuana and several high-powered firearms during a coordinated anti-illegal drug operation in Sulu on Feb. 12, 2026, officials said.

The raid took place at about 5:58 p.m. in Sitio Aggio, Barangay Pitogo in Kalingalan Caluang town. Law enforcement units recovered more than 21,200 pieces of marijuana with an estimated value of P18,232,000, according to authorities.

The operation was led by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Region 9 and carried out in coordination with multiple police and military units. Participating units included the Kalingalan Caluang Municipal Police Station, 1st and 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Companies, Regional Intelligence Unit 9, Sulu Police Provincial Office Provincial Intelligence Unit, 54th Special Action Company of the Special Action Force, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 9–905th Maneuver Company, 101st Infantry Battalion, 11th Marine Battalion Landing Team and the 2nd Infantry Regiment.

Authorities said the recovered firearms included one M1 Garand rifle with three magazines and 23 live rounds, four M16 rifles with three magazines and 49 live rounds, and one M14 rifle with two magazines and 15 live rounds. No individuals were arrested during the operation.

Philippine National Police chief Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said authorities will continue to dismantle illegal drug operations and hold violators accountable. He said the police will maintain operations against illegal drugs and enforce the law.

Authorities said anti-drug operations will continue as part of ongoing efforts to address illegal drug activities and maintain public safety in communities.
