The Barangay Government of Balibago confirmed that operatives from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), and Philippine National Police (PNP) conducted a law enforcement and search operation inside Diamond Subdivision in Angeles City, Pampanga early Wednesday morning.
According to barangay officials, the CIDG Angeles City, led by Police Major John Lloyd Bawag, coordinated with local authorities before 6 a.m. regarding the planned operation.
The search was reportedly part of efforts to locate a backup pick-up vehicle allegedly linked to the reported escape of Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa from the Senate.
Among the vehicles being sought was a pick-up truck reportedly owned by Lakay Cariño, identified as the uncle of Sen. Robin Padilla.
Barangay officials said the operation was carried out in the presence of village officials, Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team (BPAT) personnel, and representatives of the homeowners association.
Authorities said the presence of local officials and community representatives was intended to ensure the orderly and peaceful implementation of the operation.
Dela Rosa is being sought after the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant against him in connection with allegations of crimes against humanity linked to the Duterte administration’s war on drugs.
The search operation forms part of continuing law enforcement efforts related to the implementation of the warrant and the ongoing investigation.
Earlier, the CIDG warned that any individual proven to be harboring or assisting the senator while authorities continue their operations could face possible obstruction of justice charges.
As of Wednesday, authorities had not released additional details regarding the outcome of the search operation in Angeles City.
The operation remains part of broader efforts by law enforcement agencies to locate individuals and assets potentially connected to the case.
