Authorities are investigating an early morning grenade explosion at a printing shop along JY Perez Street in Barangay Talubangi, Kabankalan City, on Sunday, June 29.
According to initial information, unidentified suspects broke the lock of a printing shop’s roll-up door before allegedly tossing two explosive devices inside around 2 am.
One of the grenades purportedly detonated, damaging parts of the establishment, while the second remained intact with its safety pin still in place.
Responding police bomb experts safely retrieved the unexploded device and later conducted a controlled disposal in a nearby sugarcane field.
The printing shop is located on the ground floor of a commercial building, with a boarding house situated above it.
A female boarder, who declined to be named, said she did not hear the blast, but claimed her niece, who was also inside the building, woke up to the sound of the explosion.
Investigators have yet to determine the motive and identify those responsible.
No one was hurt in the incident.
Meanwhile, the name of the shop was withheld at the request of the owner, citing safety concerns.*
