Abandoned shabu lab found in Antipolo; PDEA identifies operators

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) uncovered an abandoned shabu laboratory inside a residential home in Antipolo City, Rizal, during a coordinated anti-drug operation on May 9.

The raid, conducted around 8:55 p.m., took place at a house on Porsche Street in Village East Executive Homes, Barangay Munting Dilaw. According to PDEA, the house was used as a clandestine drug facility, where agents discovered laboratory equipment, chest freezers, containers filled with liquid and powdery substances, and plastic sachets containing suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu.

The operation was carried out by the PDEA Special Enforcement Service (SES) in coordination with the agency’s Regional Office IV-A, Rizal Provincial Office, the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA), and the Antipolo City PNP Drug Enforcement Units.

PDEA Director General Undersecretary Isagani Nerez confirmed that the laboratory’s operators had already been identified and were believed to have fled shortly before the raid.

“Though the lab was abandoned, we know who they are. It’s only a matter of time before they are caught,” Nerez said.
